Phoenix Award
Phoenix AwardFor High Achievement in Disaster Restoration
In the Global competition for the 2004 Phoenix Award, Menold Construction and Restoration won third place for fire restoration work at Lexington High School in Lexington, Illinois. Presented each year by the Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR) and the National Institute of Disaster Restoration (NIDR), the Phoenix Award recognizes three professional restorers worldwide with "conspicuously high achievement" in the area of disaster restoration.
Lexington High School was severely damaged by arson on June 9, 2002. Menold's forces completed and supervised the entire rebuilding, restoration and renovation process. All work on the nearly $3 million project was finished on schedule for the school's reopening in August 2003.
Menold staff also assisted in providing exhaustive accounting support to the State of Illinois, which enabled the school to receive a grant used to purchase energy-efficient windows, new canopies, façade, lockers, sidewalks and other improvements.
