With this past Monday being Veteran's Day, our United States Veterans have been on our hearts more often as of late. We can not quite put into words how thankful we are for each and every Veteran who risked their lives so that we may have the freedom we do, today.

On October 19th, Dozer Stadium in Peoria hosted Goodwill of Central IL for their 11th annual "Stand Down for Homeless Veterans" event, and we were blessed with the opportunity to send a team of volunteers and give back to our American heroes. Homeless Veterans across Illinois were invited to collect supplies and services, free of charge, such as food, clothing, health screens, counseling, winter supplies, flu shots, showers, and haircuts.

The event was focused on winter apparel, as cold days were approaching, and are here now! Some of our crew brought Menold winter stocking caps to pass out, while others helped at "baggage claim" - Veterans could leave their new belongings while they ate a warm lunch, got a haircut, and other activities. Most importantly, we were able to love on each veteran that passed through, and let them know they are each uniquely loved, and how thankful we are for them and for their service. We were given in return a variety of emotions - and even some stories of days gone by.
