Best Interest for Insurance.
When facing any crisis with your home or business, the thought always comes to mind: "will my insurance cover this?" Sometimes a call is placed into the insurance company before a customer calls us, or if they know this is covered, they contact us to respond with emergency service right away – it's a toss-up. Either way, we are here to provide quick emergency service and work directly with your insurance, making the process as seamless as possible.
If a tree falls on your roof, your sewer backs up in the basement, or a pipe bursts and floods your kitchen, knowing what is and is not covered by your homeowner's insurance policy can alleviate a great deal of stress, as well as help you decide your next steps as you stare at the mess. We do know that nobody foresees these issues happening, so the better we can help prepare our clients for those "worst case scenarios," the better equipped we all will be to move towards restoration and repair quickly.
Since each insurance policy is different, we recommend that you look into the specifics of your personal insurance provider and what your policy covers. Here are some common approaches to home insurance coverage that can serve as a guideline:
- If the damage was caused by some preventable factor (such as poor maintenance of your roof, lack of attention to leaking pipes, failure to replace filters, etc.), your insurance is less likely to cover the costs.
- If the damage was accidental, unforeseen, and not preventable, you have a much higher chance of your insurance backing you on repairs and restoration.
- Personal property, dwelling, and additional flood coverage would each increase your chances of a home crisis being covered by your insurance, in addition to your basic homeowner's insurance. In addition, sump pump/back up of sewer and drain coverage must be added to a homeowner's policy by adding the endorsement. It is not included on home policies.
